The market bounced well off its morning lows…and the futures are pointing higher this morning. So, the set up going into the summit between President Trump and President Xi is still a very good one.

    • We continue to see signs that the recent decline in the defense/aerospace stocks has come to an end. One stock in particular looks poised for a strong breakout move.

    • The strong rally in the stock market off the late-March lows continued yesterday, but it remained extremely narrow. With the chip stocks seeing some material weakness this morning…after a parabolic rally of almost 70% in just six weeks…it would be normal and healthy for the group (and the market) to see some sort of pullback over the very-near-term.

    • That said, we don’t see any significantly negative news on the geopolitical front before the Trump/XI summit…so a major reversal right now does not seem likely.

    • Crude oil has formed an interesting pattern on the technical side of things…which could lead to a meaningful move before too long.

    • We understand that…technically…the Fed Chair is “just one vote” on the FOMC, but the rhetoric that has developed surrounding this idea is getting ridiculous. The Fed Chair is enormously influential…so let’s get back to reality on this subject.

    • The line of least resistance is still higher, but we’ll likely need more of a pullback than we’re seeing this morning in crude oil and long-term bond yields…for any further advance to become a significant one.

    • Keep an eye on the yen. If today’s huge move continues, it could/should have an impact on the level of net liquidity sloshing around the system.
